“ The three mole sauce came out bubbling and each one was rich and flavoursome and thick. The place was busy for a breakfast rush and only waiter was there rushing around getting everyone's orders and putting the food out so we had to wait a bit but overall enjoyed the food. ”
“ A special experience awaits all in this local Mercado. After 3 meals with our small group we remain in awe of Diego’s delicious crafted meals- cooked directly onto the plates. Chile Relleno, Tamales, beans extraordinaire....and service with a smile from all! A must! ”
“ The food takes a little more time than in other places within this mercado to be made. It is served hot, made to order and well worth the wait. The juice is freshly squeezed just like at any other eatery in here. The host is very friendly and will share a little bit of local tips and advises. ”
“ Great Mexican food, very hot, fairly priced, would recommend. ”
“ This place is incredible. The mole is the best I've had in Oaxaca. Large portion sizes and the chocolate de Aqua is amazing. ”
“ Authentic oaxacan food where the locals eat. Located inside a dizzying mercado, Diego was so kind, helpful and attentive. My Spanglish is terrible, but he was patient while we clumsily used Google translate. The food was so good, especially the quesillo, huevos and chicharrones in the tomato sauce. Can’t wait to visit. Gracias, Diego!! ”
“ Eating at a “Mercado” in Oaxaca is a unique experience. Something that has been a tradition to the locals for years. Fonda San Diego makes good that has traveled through the generations of the Oaxaquians. Well made good with original authentic Oaxaca flavors. All the dishes on the menu are typical of your Mercado experience. But don’t forget that they will make any special requests for you if you ask. Clean food with full taste. A must visit place. ”
“ We asked for a mole recommendation. The staff recommended a trilogy of mole served with chicken enchiladas and rice. It was actually super duper delicious.woukd suggest you ask for this if you want to try a variety of flavour in one dish. ”
